We are Peter (Yoda) and Sandra, a husband and wife chimney sweeping team. Peter, an RAF veteran and HETAS-approved chimney sweep, handles all the sweeping, while Sandra manages the administration and bookings. Sandra joins Peter on all jobs, ensuring a thorough and personal touch.

Q. What does a sweep entail, and do you issue a sweep certificate?
A. Every sweep conducted receives a Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps certificate. It's not just a sweep; every job gets a thorough safety check, and your open fire/appliance receives a Type Two smoke test to ensure draught and adequate smoke evacuation.
Q. How often should I get my chimney swept?
A. It all depends on use, but at least once a year. If in constant use, it is advised to get it swept every 3-4 months.
Q. Do you make a mess, and do I need to sheet up everything like my Mum and Dad used to?
A. No, those days are long gone thankfully! Modern sweeping is all about sealing up the appliance or flue and making no mess. I also use a three-stage HEPA vacuum to ensure all soot and ash are safely removed.
Q. What do I need to do prior to your arrival?
A. Do not use 24hrs before. Remove any ash, unburnt logs/coal/fuel if you can. Please remove any ornaments on the hearth and ensure I have enough space to work in, about 6 ft in front of the fireplace/appliance.
Q. Why are you called Yoda?
A. It's my old military nickname. I even had President Obama calling me "Yoda the wise one" once!
